Agremo and ICBA Join Forces to Advance Drone Technology in Saline Agriculture

 

Agremo and the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) announce a collaboration to generate artificial intelligence (AI), for data-driven agriculture suitable for salt-affected and dry regions. 

New partners, Agremo and ICBA, want to improve food production in marginal environments, to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, by using innovative technologies, that are adapted to climate change and make sustainable use of natural resources. 

This complements perfectly with Agremo’s vision to create new applications for specific crops and expand the integration of their platform with other systems and workflows.

Speaking about the partnership with Agremo, Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi, Acting Director General of ICBA, said: “We are delighted to partner with Agremo to contribute toward agricultural development in marginal environments. This partnership complements our research priorities’ strategic direction focusing on data-driven agriculture. It includes using Artificial Intelligence (AI), remote sensing and drone technologies to generate real-time data related to climate change impact, salinity issues, water resources management, and crop monitoring.”

 Dr. Ali Elbattay, Senior Principal Scientist for Remote Sensing and Drone Technology, at ICBA, said: “Technology and data are at the forefront driving decision making nowadays in data powered economies and societies. With further advancements in drone technologies and the rise of emerging technologies such as AI and IoT, stakeholders are poised to capitalize on these advancements to innovate processes, systems and solutions to shape a better future.” 

As part of the collaboration, Agremo and ICBA will also work in close cooperation with universities and research organizations to prepare proposals and concept notes and raise funds. The developed technology will then be tested in ICBA. Here, in addition to cutting-edge imagery analytics, Agremo’s solution designed for large organizations, such as research centers, will allow easy sharing of reports and images during the collaboration. 

The resultant technology will contribute to the realization of common ICBA and Agremo missions and goals. 

Agremo’s CEO and founder, Dr. Milan Dobrota, emphasized that “Agremo supports the dissemination and implementation of the technology with different stakeholders, including government and commercial industry entities. To this end, knowledge transfer, training, team and capacity building on remote sensing and drones, and dissemination of knowledge will take place through seminars, workshops and conferences and/or dedicated research publications.”

Later for implementation, people can choose the option, which suits them best, from Agremo’s scalable services – from individual professionals to large enterprises.

Individual professional service packages are for growers, agricultural and forestry consultants, and drone service providers. While the enterprise packages are for agribusinesses, large growers, cooperatives, food and crop processors, and ag insurance companies.

Dr. Dobrota said, “We are proud to be partners in transforming agriculture and creating a more sustainable food production and supply chain. With ICBA we can work to bring our innovation for immediate implementation in the thirty countries in Africa and Central Asia, where they work.”

This collaboration is Agremo’s latest project in its mission to make remote sensing-based precision agriculture technology universally accessible.
